The Museum’s Education Department secured a $40,000 grant from Prime Time Palm Beach County for the coming fiscal year. The Museum’s Meet a Master, Jersey Flex - Base Jake Jerseys Philadelphia Cool Store Phillies And Create a Masterpiece Roadshow, in its 11th year, will expand to provide quality visual arts programming to out-of-school organizations in the southern half of the county.
“It is exciting that our Education Department is able to expand its outreach programming to a variety of afterschool institutions,” remarked Irvin Lippman, Executive Director. “The Museum gains more recognition every year for this stellar program.” Earlier this year, the Museum received the Liman Excellence in Arts Education Award from the Cultural Council of Palm Beach County for this and its other academic programming.
The grant will enable the Museum to supply a 6-week program to 18 sites over the year. Luis Glickman, Academic Programs Manager stated, “I am excited that the Museum will engage new students in grades K-5 with this interactive, curriculum-enrichment program.”
Each week, the sites will receive five 90-minute classes at their location, and one 60-minute trip to the Boca Raton Museum of Art. The interactive curriculum-enrichment program will introduce artists, art history, different cultures, and new vocabulary. The children will create hands-on art activities and engage in art critiques. At the end of their Museum visit, all children will receive a free family pass for a return visit with their family. A program of this nature strives to impact the children’s self-confidence, school engagement, leisure time art-making activities, understanding of art-making processes and foster the next generation of museum-goers.

The hours between the time that children get out of school and the time that working parents come home is considered "prime time" for continuous learning and growth or risky behaviors. This critical window of time after school presents not only challenges but also opportunities to impact youth development.
In 1996, key stakeholders in Palm Beach County, Florida, convened to share resources to improve the quality of local afterschool and summer programs. Four years later, in 2000, the group formed a separate non-profit organization, Prime Time Palm Beach County, Inc. The organization was -- and still is -- dedicated to ensuring that afterschool programs are of the highest quality so as to keep youth engaged in learning, and on track for academic success and healthy social development. n partnership with local content expert organizations, Prime Time makes available expanded learning opportunities (ELOs) to eligible afterschool and summer programs. Prime Time serves approximately 250 individual afterschool programs and approximately 1,900 practitioners, ultimately impacting some 25,000 local youth each year.
Prime Time Palm Beach County and Boca Raton Museum of Art look forward to our partnership and strive to deliver quality expanded learning opportunities to the youth and staff in afterschool programs in Palm Beach County.
